Is anybody out their that say the BC Genesee game? I sure would like to know what happened, the score surprised me.
does anyone now what the media coverage for the game will be yet live stream or radio only
the cell phone by the radio worked but sure plays hell with rollover min. LOL thumbtailgaters do a great job but the havent done any Ubly games yet must be afraid of getting lost in Ubly LOL
Saw Genesee beat Brown City yesterday. I was not very impressed with Genesee. Ubly should handle them pretty easily.
I saw Ubly on film this year, I sent someone to film the Vassar game for me. Genesee did not seem very big to me. Also they did not seem to be very fast.
I know nobody has said anything about Bad Axe football recently, but it makes me very upset as a person from bad axe to hear people say that Hatchet football is no good, when a so called "playoff team" in Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest can't get more than 40 yards of offense. I know Ubly is very good, but Bad Axe did score twice on them, which i think proves that Hatchet football is better than all the critics think. They would have had a great chance to beat Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest too. It's frustrating for us, but nice to see Ubly continue to dominate and represent for the rest of the Thumb.
that's why to be the best you gotta beat the best. the only problem bad axe has is they are in one of the better conferences in the state for d6-d8 football. i'm pretty sure even mayville could've gotten wins against teams playing in sub-par conferences this year, but you gotta take what you can get i guess
I would think the Thumb is one of the toughest area's to build a football program in because there so many great programs already. Theres alot of area's Im sure that if Bad Axe played in they would have gotten 6 wins for playoffs.
How do you think the other people around the state view Thumb Area Football? I wonder if our area gets the respect it deserves. I think the last post was correct in saying there are great programs here. Do you think the Western/Northern/Southwestern Sides of the state even know about Thumb Football? I think the MHSAA doesn't do it's job to include our area. Even if they do, it's very self-serving used only to promote themselves. What are your thoughts?
I was at both the Ubly-Bad Axe game and Ubly-RH game. The first thing I told my brother was that I thought Bad Axe would've run all over this RH team, too! IMO, they play a different style of football south of the Thumb. These teams are not used to getting hit and they can't defend a running game. All they know how to do is throw the ball.
Bad Axe would not have played D7 if they did somehow make the playoffs. They would have been D6. Now start comparing.
I've watched Bad Axe/Ubly and Ubly/GAC games the past 5 years or so...even the Collins years. It is true that the Hachetts compared very favorably to those GAC play-off teams...Genesee, Bentley and Bendle.
Hatchets would have done well in the GAC-Blue but as what has been mentioned they are a bigger school and would play in the GAC-Red...Montrose, Beecher, Lake Fenton, Mt Morris...needless to say they would not do very well in the GAC against teams their size.
Thumb Area doesn't get respect around the state because although their smash mouth football can get them far they don't bring home a state titles. Last years Ubly team was good because they had ALOT of talent and played Thumb football. I can think of two Deckerville teams that lost games by 1 score,(Iron Mountain and Depores) and if they had wons those games they had States in the bag. I have seen alot of Thumb teams that were great but ran into teams that simply had more talent.
